We all know about red flags and I’m sure many of us have an extensive list of them. While some red flags are important to take heed of (ex. anger issues, manipulation and feeling unsafe in your relationship are some immediate sign to get out and find help) there are other cases in which it is beneficial to focus on all of a partner’s green flags instead of icking over them leaving the toilet seat open once. Obviously all of this depends on the context and situational circumstances of your relationship, and it is ultimately up to you to decide what is best for your personal health and happiness. Without further ado, here are seven green flags to look for and appreciate in a romantic relationship (and don’t worry, these are real green-flags, not the bare-minimum in disguise).

They Send You Instagram Reels That Match Your Unique Sense of Humor

There is nothing like a relationship between two people who share the same sense of humor. Receiving these messages not only provides you with a great laugh, but it also acts as a reminder that someone else out there understands you.

They Wait To Watch The Next Episode With You

Watching a show together can be a great way to bond and relax with one another. But it can also be a bit frustrating when you’re both busy and don’t have the time to watch together. A true soulmate will wait for you without going ahead!

They Talk To Your Pet Like It’s A Person

For all of the pet-owners reading this, you know that this one is SUPER important. If my dogs don’t like my boyfriend, I have to trust that they know better than me! I expect my partner to treat my pets like the royalty they are and that means having full conversations with them face to face.

They Remember That One Random Thing You Said Weeks Ago

Obviously it’s important for your partner to be an active listener and you should expect them to pay attention to the things you say. That being said, it’s a known fact that people forget sometimes. When your partner remembers that little random comment that you yourself hardly even remember saying, that’s when you know that they’re hanging on your every word.

They Support Your Nap Schedule

As a girl who loves her short little naps in between classes, I will be the first to admit that there is nothing better than a “text me when you wake up 🫶” message. Extra points if they know your schedule well enough to predict your daily naps!

They Hype You Up For Doing The Bare Minimum

We all have days where getting out of bed and getting all of our work done is extra difficult. A good boyfriend/girlfriend will understand these ruts and act as your biggest fan throughout the day to help you through. You did your laundry? They better be acting like you just won the Boston Marathon.

They Don’t Judge Your Favorite Comfort Movies

Whether it is Barbie and the Twelve Dancing Princesses, Hamilton, or Dirty Dancing your partner should be (or at least act) just as excited to watch as you. Besides, there’s reason enough to be happy simply spending quality time beside you!
