Biting Bev: Best Breakfast Spots in Beverly

October 10th, 2018 – Whitley Neumeister

We’ve all been there. You wake up on Saturday or Sunday morning, starving and exhausted after a long week of classes. It’s great to head to the dining hall for brunch, but we all know how boring and painfully consistent the food there gets.

Following this intro I have compiled for you a list of my favorite places to grab something super yummy and reasonably priced to eat on the weekends (or weekdays!) Whether it’s coffee, stuffed french toast, avocado toast, a mouth watering panini, or an Instagram worthy cappuccino, you’re sure to find a new favorite place on this list.

Tartine Kitchen & Eatery – Beverly

Why save the best for last when you can start with the best! Tartine is a trendy, true European inspired spot right on Cabot Street in downtown Bev. With its authentic European flair, monochromatic aesthetic, simple yet delicious menu, and calm yet sophisticated atmosphere, Tartine will surely be your new favorite spot for a brunch date, place to take your parents when they visit, or just to study and enjoy one of their yummy signature Tartines. Now, this isn’t the type of place where you will get heaps of food for under $12 a plate. Although Tartine isn’t super pricey, you’re definitely paying for the quality of food and the atmosphere to enjoy that food in. Tartine has outdoor seating, WiFi, and a super friendly staff. When I asked the owner what the most popular menu item was, he replied, “Oh the avocado toast of course!” Definitely check out Tartine even if you don’t plan to order something.

Atomic Cafe – Beverly

Atomic cafe is one of the first places in Beverly I really enjoyed going to and grabbing a bite to eat at. When friends come to Beverly to visit, we always stop at Atomic. Great coffee, great cappuccino, fun eccentric atmosphere, and a great place to read a book or catch up on some studying. I found it difficult to find a great panini place in Beverly, so when I first tried the ‘Quirky Turkey’ there I knew I had to come back again to try their other selections. Atomic has a few other locations as well, so they definitely are more experienced when it comes to the ordering process and service.

Half Baked – Beverly Farms

If you have a sweet tooth starting at 7am, Half Baked is a must visit spot for you! A three minute drive from campus, or a 12 minute jog, Half Baked is nestled into the few shops of Beverly Farms. Their menu includes yummy breakfast burritos, sandwiches, and lunch paninis, but don’t look past their pastries, and homemade donuts. They even feature their signature ‘Bacon Glazed’ donut….YUM! Half baked has limited seating so it’s a great place you could grab a quick to-go bite and bring your food to West Beach just a minute down the road. The cafe proudly advertises a “100% nut-free bakery” and delivers many options post-morning including sandwiches and cupcakes.

Cityside Diner – Beverly

Cityside Diner is you the classic diner spot, featuring large portions and delicious brunch favorites. Home Fries, eggs any style, bacon, sausage, french toast, waffles, pancakes, you name it, Cityside has it. Right on Cabot Street in downtown Beverly, Cityside is where you will find anyone and everyone on a Saturday or Sunday morning in Beverly, and there is often a line out the door! Grab your roommates and head to Cityside for brunch–you won’t regret it.

The way to my heart: salad from Sweet Green, a day spent on Newbury, and summer days spent on Madaket/Siasconset Beach in Nantucket.
