Best Apps to Save a Little Cash

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Endicott chapter.

Okay ladies, if there is one thing we can all agree on, it’s that saving money can be hard, especially in college. And while I don’t have an answer to all the money spent on late night pizza orders, I do have some apps that I love for saving a bit of cash.

UNiDAYS

Okay if you’re not using UNiDAYS then you better hop over to the app store and download it right now. UNiDAYS is one of the easiest ways to get student discounts at some of your favorite stores. This app has discounts from stores such as American Eagle, Forever 21, Kate Spade, and Levi’s, to beauty brands such as Too Faced and Clinique. And I can’t forget the 20% off Grubhub orders.

Venmo

This should be a staple for every college students phone. It is the easiest way to send and receive money (because who even carries cash anymore?). And for those people who always seem to forget to pay you back, you can send them a request for the money without having to send that awkward “are you ever going to pay me back” text.

Income OK

Now, when it comes to tracking spending habits, it can be tricky figuring out where all your money goes. Income Ok has seriously changed how I spend money. You can track both spending and income, put in under a category, and add the date. I have expense categories such as food, gas, school, and other broad categories that I typically spend money on. You can see your daily, monthly, or yearly savings and expenses which is shown in a pie chart, super easy to read! So even if this app won’t save you money, it at least will give you a better idea where your money goes.

Coinout

This one is pretty new to me. But honestly, I love it. All you do is take a picture of your paper receipts and it gives you money back. That simple. And the receipts can be for anything, from clothing to food to technology. Now this won’t be making you rich anytime soon (it really only gives a few cents back), but hey, that change adds up!

Inbox Dollars

This one is great for when you have a few minutes before class or when you’re on your phone before bed. All you do is take surveys, then you get paid. Yeah, it’s that easy. It’s a great way to make a few bucks here and there.
