8 Songs I Think Everyone Should Listen to at Least Once

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Endicott chapter.
  1. Take it Slow– Conner Smith

Conner is an upcoming artist in the country music industry. He has opened for both Sam Hunt and Thomas Rhett with his music being very similar to both. He currently has three songs out with more on the way. If you like country music, he is definitely an artist to keep your eye out for and always a good listen. All of his songs are perfect for late-night drives with the windows down. Take It Slow is about a fresh relationship and well, taking it slow.

  1. RIP– Olivia O’Brien

Olivia is mainly known for her song Josslyn. Yet, I have been listening to her since 2017 when she only had a few songs out. RIP is about realizing the change in people, of course, everyone changes, but you hope that it is for the better. This song is a representation of someone changing for the worse and wishing that they were the same as before. Everyone has had a friend where the friendship ended and all of a sudden you see them acting differently and you just wish you still knew the old them. O’Brien has been around for a while but is definitely going to continue to grow and is another lowkey artist to look out for.

  1. New Man– Ed Sheeran

Sheeran is a very popular artist and continues to grow and impress me with different styles of music recently. He is talking about a breakup and how his ex continues to call him and trying to make him jealous, to try to get back with him in a way, but he sees through that and knows it is not a good idea. Although he does admit to constantly checking her social media. People in town also try to keep making him jealous by telling him new things about the ex’s new man. This was a very fun and upbeat song that also reminds me of the song Don’t by Sheeran.

  1. Golden Thing– Cody Simpson

Simpson has been around since I was young and went silent for a while in a way, with no new music for a while. Golden Thing is about him capturing a love so pure. He wants to tell everyone about this relationship and share his love for her with the world. It is the perfect song for a relationship because pure, true love is golden and should be shared.

  1. Big, Big Plans– Chris Lane

Keeping with the theme of relationships, Big, Big Plans is the perfect song to get engaged to. I tell my best friend when my future boyfriend talks to her about proposing to me, it has to be to this song. Chris is another smaller country artist with big songs you would know if you listen to country music but may not know that it is him singing.  The song is for his now-wife, Lauren, where Chris simply announces his big plans for their future and just puts it in such a beautiful way that makes you want to find a love like theirs.

  1. Better– Khalid

This is a song I assume almost everyone has already heard. However, it is a song that no matter what is going on in life if you listen to it you are taken back to such a happy moment in time. Whether you’re driving blasting music with the windows down or sitting in your room, once you hear this song all the good vibes and memories come pouring back.

  1. I’ll Show You– Justin Bieber

This is a song only true Beliebers know off the top of their head. Justin has expressed many times since his stardom that people will often assume things about him and act as they know him through what they see in the media. Yes, he has made mistakes, but who hasn’t? A lyric from the song is “act like you know me but you never will” and I think that is so fitting not only for celebrities but everyone. People have many layers and only show you what they are comfortable with. Or you hear something about another person and automatically assume things but you do not truly know them.

  1. Most People are Good– Luke Bryan

Luke heavily emphasizes how much we need to pay attention to the good in the world around us. How good hanging out with people can be. He focuses on the overall theme of how we need to start looking for the good instead of the bad. In a world where the bad often shadows the good, it is important to remember the times and people that make us happy and who we are at the end of the day. This song will really make you stop and think about all those people and moments that may seem little but overall have so much impact.
