20 Things I’ve Learned in 20 Years

I am turning 20 years old on December 7th and I am more than excited to enter this new era of my life. In honor of my upcoming birthday, I have decided to reflect on some of the primary lessons that I have learned over the past two decades I have spent on this lovely Earth.

1. It’s okay to say no.

2. Not everyone in your life will be permanent.

3. Change is constant.

4. Not everything will go your way.

5. Failure is inevitable, but is always a learning experience.

6. Don’t take everything so seriously.

7. Setting boundaries is one of the most important things that you can do in a relationship.

8. You don’t owe anyone an explanation about the way you do things.

9. Good grades are not the end all be all.

10. Your body needs love. Take care of it.

11. Connect with people who make you feel good.

12. Life is too short. Have more fun.

13. Spend more time with your family.

14. Karma is real.

15. Focus more on experiences rather than materialistic things.

16. It’s perfectly fine to give yourself a rest. You deserve it.

17. You can change the course of your life anytime you want.

18. Not everyone will like you, and that’s more than okay.

19. It’s okay to cry.

20. It’s never worth changing yourself for anyone.
