The Youngest Designer of Project Runway…Where is He Now?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emory chapter.

Many of you remember the epic season 4 finale of Heidi Klum’s TV show, Project Runway. The youngest contestant, Christian Siriano, grabbed the grand prize and launched his fashion career at just 21 years old! So that was back in March 2008…but where is he now?

After creating a winning collection for the final runway show, Siriano went on to launch his collection at New York Fashion Week in September 2008. It was a huge success and launched young Siriano into the entrepreneurial and mass-market retail world of fashion. Since then, he has created collections for Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Puma, Bluefly, Payless Shoe Store, maternity wear (Fierce Mamas) for Moody Mamas, and even his own makeup line for Victoria’s Secret.

With his fierce asymmetrical up-do and flamboyant attitude, Siriano gained large public attention, which helps promote his numerous fashion endeavors. He even wrote a book entitled Fierce Style, How to be Your Most Fabulous Self and has appeared on numerous television shows as cameo roles and guest judges. His website showcases his newest collections with an online store.

As of late, he recently unveiled his Spring 2013 show that included everything from matching separates, shirt-dresses, muted pastel patterns, and “airy water-color tie-dyes” as Fashionista.com perfectly described them. The culmination of the show resulted in floaty dresses that had the crowd gasping. One final white gown, beautifully embellished with pearls and feathers, caught the eye of the audience as the show-stopping piece. Nora Crotty comments on the entire show, the pieces were “gorgeous, yet wearable ballerina costumes for grown-ups.” This was exactly what Siriano was aiming for: light, romantic pieces with a dream-like quality, all inspired by The Dream Ballet performed by the American Ballet Theater. It is evident that Christian Siriano is taking his talent to new levels and has a long future in fashion ahead of him!
