Winter Denim Trends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emory chapter.

Let’s face it; basic blue jeans are getting kind of boring. Whether for going out, or going to class, denim is a girl’s best friend, and this season, your Starbucks order isn’t the only thing getting spiced up. Not only are jeans now sold in every color of the rainbow, they have arrived in new patterns, textures and treatments. Happy holidays, anyone?

New “shiny” denim includes everything from metallic coating, to actual sequins. For the shine trend, try a pair like J Brand’s Coated Metallic Power Skinnies.

New prints like brocade and paisley are being introduced into the world of denim. Deviating from the overgrown floral patterns of the past, these new prints are sophisticated, and fit to be the perfect going-out pair. 7 For All Mankind’s Brocade Foil Skinnies are the quintessential pair for any occasion this wintry season.

They’re sexy, flattering and look great with everything and more; but understandably, you probably aren’t intending to drop nearly a thousand dollars on a pair of leather pants. That’s why the denim gods have graced us with “coated” jeans. They look like leather, feel like leather, but they aren’t leather! Genius. Try a pair of Nasty Gal’s extremely affordable Coated Skinny Jeans.

These styles are chic and even cooler than the weather. Strut out of your comfort zone and add some texture, pattern, or shine to your denim wardrobe!

She talks too fast, eats too slow and over-analyzes too much.  When she’s not telling long-winded stories, sitting alone at the dinner table, or staring off into space, Jessica loves all things creative. Screenwriter, play director and poet at age 9, songwriter and choreographer at age 16, now, at 23, all she really wants to do is write, help others, and post Instagrams.  As a social media coordinator for multiple fashion brands, and a post-grad writer for Her Campus, she gets to do just that. Jessica is a Midwestern girl from the suburbs of Chicago, but she fell in love with city living during a summer internship in the Big Apple, and now calls NYC home. Jessica loves chocolate milkshakes, dance parties, Chippewa Ranch Camp, Friends re-runs, Chuck Bass and of course, spending time with her fans (read: family and friends).
