Soundtracks Every Collegiette Needs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emory chapter.

Every Friday around 9 p.m. my roommate and I struggle to find the perfect songs for getting ready to go out.
We’ll start getting in the mindset for partying with a little David Guetta, applying mass amounts of eyeliner to the jumpy beats—when suddenly the song will end and some haltingly slow tune will put the brakes on our fun. I love you, Sara Bareilles, but now is not the time.

Occasions like this happen far to often. You’ve got your headphones in while you read over chem slides, and abruptly your Beethoven switches to Beastie Boys, fully disrupting your studies. You’re running a mile a minute in the WoodPec when all of a sudden the dubstep switches to Death Cab and you nearly fly off the treadmill. And worst-case scenario… you’re just getting to the best parts of a night that is sure to end in a walk of shame, when the xx turns into HAKUNA MATATA!!! Buzz. Kill.

Thank God for 8tracks.com.

Allison is a senior at Emory University studying Journalism and the rather complicated major of Interdisciplinary Studies: Visual Studies and Contemporary Cultures. She is slightly obsessed with magazines and has written and edited for Her Campus since its start at Emory her freshman year. At Emory she can generally be found giving tours to prospies, hanging with her ADPi sisters, DJ-ing with WMRE and om-ing in yoga classes. Allison enjoys music, drawing, and fashion, and like most college students she is completely addicted to coffee. After graduation she wants to work in public relations or marketing, but her secret dream is to become Lena Dunham. Follow her on Twitter: @alldayallison
