The Second Wave is Coming, Are You Ready For It?

We never could’ve predicted COVID-19 affecting us as it did back in March. It was an unexpected turn in the path of life. We locked down for months, completely isolated ourselves from friends and family, and put our college experience on hold. But according to experts, a second and possibly worse wave of the virus is coming. So, how can we prepare?

Wear a mask! I can’t stress this enough. By wearing a mask you are protecting others from the deadly disease. Even without symptoms, you could still have it. In all honesty, it’s better to be safe than sorry, so just wear a mask. It’s the easy things that will truly affect the lives of those around you.

As a general rule of thumb, try to expose yourself as little as possible. Don’t go see your friends inside without a mask. Doctors and scientists are expecting the impending cold weather to have a major influence on this second outbreak. If you see people, keep it outdoors, and most importantly, keep it socially distant.

Of course, keep washing your hands, using hand sanitizer, and stop touching your face. All of these things are not difficult to do, but at the same time, they can make all the difference. They will not only prevent you from catching the virus, but they can also prevent you from further spreading it, something that will be very important in the upcoming months.

Start stocking up on all of the essential groceries, toilet paper, and all of the necessities. If the new outbreak is going to be as bad as they think it is, we might as well start preparing for it now. No one wants to be caught off guard yet again for a virus we saw coming.

With all of these suggestions comes a greater responsibility of being smart, being safe, and staying healthy. It’s important to remember that even if you can handle the virus, those around may not be able to. Stay informed and stay calm. With these tips, you are one step closer to being prepared, reducing the risk, and protecting others.
