Senior Matt Lipkins has been entertaining us the past four years as the lead singer in The Shadowboxers (a musical group formed here at Emory), and a member of No Strings Attached (an all male Emory acapella group). Matt’s stellar voice and obvious charm have made him one of the most sexy and mysterious men on campus. By popular demand, he has been selected to be this week’s campus cutie. Let’s see if this charismatic performer still “has it” off stage.

Grade: Senior

Major: Psychology

Hometown: Larchmont, NY

Extracurriculars: The Shadowboxers, No Strings Attached

Relationship Status: Single!

Here’s what Matt had to say…

Her Campus Emory (HCE): What is your favorite song?

Matt Lipkins (ML): Anything from “Cats” the Broadway masterpiece.

HCE: What is your biggest pet peeve?

ML: Sharks that don’t swim straight. I mean, get it together!

HCE: What 3 adjectives would your mom use to describe you?

ML: Fucking unbelievably jacked.

HCE: Are the songs you write (as part of the Shadowboxers or on your own) about a specific girl?

ML: Yeah, “When Can I Be?” is definitely about a specific girl. Some of the others are reflections on multiple girls. The band wouldn’t want me to spill this but most of the songs are about Hygieia, the goddess of good health and cleanliness (associated mostly with the prevention of sickness). Secret’s out.

HCE:I couldn’t live without________ (fill in the blank)

ML: Those mint flavored toothpicks you get at the end of a meal out.

HCE: Would you rather have Harry Potter’s powers or an ever-replenishing money tree?

ML: I can’t handle this question. Too much responsibility.

HCE: What do you look for in a girlfriend?

ML: You know, I had a list of things I thought I wanted in a girlfriend and my last girlfriend didn’t fill most of those “requirements.” So I’d have to say I look for some surprise in a girlfriend, something I didn’t think I was looking for that grabs my attention.

HCE: I think that guys that date girls older than them are________ (fill in the blank)

ML: Usually mature…or just tired of buying drinks for girls that are younger than them.

HCE: Boxers or briefs?

ML:Is this a serious question? Long johns.

HCE: I can’t wait for_______ (fill in the blank)

ML: It to be acceptable for me to wear Hawaiian shirts.

Jessica lives her life at several speeds. She talks too fast, eats too slow and over-analyzes too much.  When she’s not telling long-winded stories, sitting alone at the dinner table, or staring off into space, Jessica loves all things creative. Screenwriter, play director and poet at age 9, songwriter and choreographer at age 16, now, at 23, all she really wants to do is write, help others, and post Instagrams.  As a social media coordinator for multiple fashion brands, and a post-grad writer for Her Campus, she gets to do just that. Jessica is a Midwestern girl from the suburbs of Chicago, but she fell in love with city living during a summer internship in the Big Apple, and now calls NYC home. Jessica loves chocolate milkshakes, dance parties, Chippewa Ranch Camp, Friends re-runs, Chuck Bass and of course, spending time with her fans (read: family and friends).
