Has anyone else been struggling with what to wear in this January warmth?  It may be a winter month but the weather is that of spring. From torrential downpours to sunny and 70-degree days, this month has covered all of weather’s gifts besides snow (let’s hope it stays that way).  Since the mornings are cold, the days are hot, and rain comes as it pleases, finding the proper outerwear is a major challenge.  After doing research (aka spending multiple hours either freezing or sweating for lack of a proper coat), I have come up with a list of jackets that will help you beat this weather conundrum and look goooood doing it.

1) The Barbour coat. This preppy New England staple is waterproof, effortlessly chic, and the queen coat of convenience.  You can put a liner in to make it warmer or a hood on for the rain.  And Kate Middleton loves it, so….

2) A lightweight leather jacket.  Leather isn’t only for going out!  Waterproof it with Penguin products so that you can wear it even in the rain. Then pair it with a casual day outfit and you will stay warm, dry and fashionable all day long. It also makes for an easy transition into night!

3) A light yet long and flowy sweater.  This is easy to wrap around your body, belt, or leave hanging for a homeless chic look .

4) Of course, sorority sweatshirts are always an option… but sometimes it is nice to stray away from that look and dress up a little bit!  Same goes with a North Face jacket.  Live a little!

5) A form-fitting sweater – may look warm, but can still be cool so that you don’t overheat in the changing weather.

6) A men’s oxford with a loose sweater or sweater vest.  Collegiate cool.

Jessica lives her life at several speeds. She talks too fast, eats too slow and over-analyzes too much.  When she’s not telling long-winded stories, sitting alone at the dinner table, or staring off into space, Jessica loves all things creative. Screenwriter, play director and poet at age 9, songwriter and choreographer at age 16, now, at 23, all she really wants to do is write, help others, and post Instagrams.  As a social media coordinator for multiple fashion brands, and a post-grad writer for Her Campus, she gets to do just that. Jessica is a Midwestern girl from the suburbs of Chicago, but she fell in love with city living during a summer internship in the Big Apple, and now calls NYC home. Jessica loves chocolate milkshakes, dance parties, Chippewa Ranch Camp, Friends re-runs, Chuck Bass and of course, spending time with her fans (read: family and friends).
