Finally! Fall Break is almost here! Time to put away those textbooks in favor of a few relaxing days in the
warm(ish) Atlanta sunshine. For those of you who are leaving the state, safe travels! But for those of you who are sticking around with no real plans other than to hang out with friends and catch up on some must needed sleep, here are some ideas to transform some lazy time off into an epic adventure…and cross off some of those “to do’s” on your Emory Bucket List.

Overnight Trips

Savannah
If you’ve never been to Savannah, you’re in for a treat. Savannah was founded in 1733 as the Colonial Capital of
Georgia. Now, 278 years later, it’s one of the Top 10 City Destinations in the United States. There are museums, parks, famous buildings, historic tours, ghost tours, dolphin watching, and civil war history everywhere you turn. You’re day will be packed with interesting and fun things to do. At night, the city comes alive with relaxed bars and restaurants. Savannah is definitely worth the trip!

Callaway Gardens Harvest Moon Festival
From October 6-9, Callaway Gardens will be hosting the first annual Harvest Moon Festival. The Harvest Moon
Festival (the “harvest moon” is the full moon that occurs closest to the first day of autumn) will feature bands and DJs from around the world, as well as multiple celebrity chefs to cook traditional, seasonal foods. Tickets range from $40-$80, depending on how many days you want to spend at the Gardens.

Athens
Fall Break is a perfect time to head up to Athens. If you’ve never been, get excited for a college bar scene unlike
anywhere else on the East Coast. If you’ve been before, well, then you know what you’re in for. Unfortunately, the Dawgs won’t be in town this weekend so you won’t be able to get in a game while you’re there, but the bars will be crazy and lively, as usual.

Day or Half-day Trips

Stone Mountain
October is the perfect time to go to Stone Mountain. The weather is still warm enough for hiking, and you get to
enjoy the beauty of the colors of fall.

Netherworld
It’s October, which means Halloween is almost here which means the Netherworld Haunted House is open! If
you’ve never heard of the Netherworld before, it’s basically the scariest Haunted House you’ll ever go to in your life. It has been voted the #1 Haunted House in America by multiple magazines, and from personal experience, I can say it definitely lives up to that title.

Dayglow
Unfortunately all of you leaving Emory for Fall Break are going to miss this semester’s Dayglow. However, those
of you that are around, go!!! But before you do, be sure to check out Her Campus Emory’s guide to Dayglow.
