Day to Night with Oxblood

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emory chapter.

Jewel tones are a necessity in any girl’s closet, whether they come in sparkling high heels, silky scarves, or cozy knit tops. This season, the color to have in your closet is Oxblood. This deep, dark reddish-brown hue has been cropping up in the fashion world for the fall season. It’s the perfect way to show your vampy side for when you go out in the evenings, or your unique, artsy side during the day.

Oxblood jeans are becoming a trendy fad; wear them to class and around campus with a scarf and flowy t-shirt, and then get ready to dress them up with stiletto pumps, jeweled earrings, and sparkly tanks to head out at night! There are so many ways to wear jeans in this deep red hue, and it’s already a big hit for the upcoming, chilly weather!

If going all out with Oxblood jeans isn’t your thing, you can still rock this color trend in a not so drastic way. Add a pop of color to your outfit by making your Oxblood accent with some killer shoes. The jewel tone will liven up any outfit, whether you choose shoes in that color or end up with a blazer to match! You can make your entire outfit complete with Oxblood, such as the designers of these outfits (below). You can also choose to be a minimalist and match a bag, scarf, or even your manicure in the hue. The choice is yours! The best thing about this fall color is that it’s perfect for both day and night, so release your creative side and get ready to dress from head to toe in Oxblood this semester!

Jessica lives her life at several speeds. She talks too fast, eats too slow and over-analyzes too much.  When she’s not telling long-winded stories, sitting alone at the dinner table, or staring off into space, Jessica loves all things creative. Screenwriter, play director and poet at age 9, songwriter and choreographer at age 16, now, at 23, all she really wants to do is write, help others, and post Instagrams.  As a social media coordinator for multiple fashion brands, and a post-grad writer for Her Campus, she gets to do just that. Jessica is a Midwestern girl from the suburbs of Chicago, but she fell in love with city living during a summer internship in the Big Apple, and now calls NYC home. Jessica loves chocolate milkshakes, dance parties, Chippewa Ranch Camp, Friends re-runs, Chuck Bass and of course, spending time with her fans (read: family and friends).
