Campus Chic Alex Hernandez!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emory chapter.

We know you all love scoping out the “Campus Cutie” section in search of Emory hotties, and reading up on “Campus Celebrities” to get to know the university’s newsmakers. Now, Her Campus Emory presents to you a third group of exemplary students: the fashion-forward.

Each week, we will showcase a new “Campus Chic”, one of Emory’s stylish students, and learn a thing or two about her fashion sense and style! This is a another excuse to get dressed for class in the mornings, you never know when you’ll be spotted!

Last but certainly not least for this semester….Alex Hernandez!

Her Campus Emory (HCE): What is the source of inspiration for your style?
Alex Hernandez (AH): The source of inspiration for my style always changes. I mostly go out into cities, whether I’m living there or visiting, and like to discover different boutiques and gather inspiration from the people I come across. In terms of designers, Alexander McQueen was always someone I admired as an innovater. He was the master of juxtaposing delicate and harsh materials, something I like to attempt in my everyday style.

HCE: What is your favorite accessory?
AH: My favorite accessory typically changes every couple of weeks. Currently, if you ask anyone who knows me, I am obsessed with a black headwrap that some of my friends call my “turban”. But at the same time I’m in love with this gold metal pleated statement necklace that sits on my collar and has a very Egyptian feel to it.

HCE: Favorite thing to wear in the summer/when it’s hot?
AH: My favorite summer staple is definitly the sundress. I live near the beach so it’s the best item to throw over a bathing suit and go out for the day. In a place as hot as Miami, sundresses are essential.

Jessica lives her life at several speeds. She talks too fast, eats too slow and over-analyzes too much.  When she’s not telling long-winded stories, sitting alone at the dinner table, or staring off into space, Jessica loves all things creative. Screenwriter, play director and poet at age 9, songwriter and choreographer at age 16, now, at 23, all she really wants to do is write, help others, and post Instagrams.  As a social media coordinator for multiple fashion brands, and a post-grad writer for Her Campus, she gets to do just that. Jessica is a Midwestern girl from the suburbs of Chicago, but she fell in love with city living during a summer internship in the Big Apple, and now calls NYC home. Jessica loves chocolate milkshakes, dance parties, Chippewa Ranch Camp, Friends re-runs, Chuck Bass and of course, spending time with her fans (read: family and friends).
