Zodiac Signs as Lana Del Rey Songs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emmanuel chapter.

Every summer since 2012, I have fallen back in love with Lana Del Rey’s discography. This summer was no exception—her music somehow always matches my emotions in a way I never knew I could explain. Her storytelling has also transported me to other lifetimes, helping me live vicariously through her scandalous lyrics at times. As we patiently await Chemtrails Over The Country Club to be released and the new chapter it will explain in all of our lives, I have compiled a list of each zodiac sign as a Lana song!

Aries March 21st – April 19th

“Ride”

To me, this song candidly expresses all the qualities of an Aries. Fierce independence, freedom, and a hint of impulsiveness. Lana does not hold back in this song either—she lets us know why she loves the open road and how she belongs to no one at the end of the day.

Featured Lyrics:

“I hear the birds on the summer breeze, I drive fast

I am alone in the night

Been tryin’ hard not to get into trouble, but I

I’ve got a war in my mind

So, I just ride”

Taurus April 20th – May 20th

“God Bless America + All The Beautiful Women In It”

The grandiose production and patriotic sounds in this song are incredibly grounding in a way you would never expect. Just like a Taurus, this song empowers you gently but powerfully.

Featured Lyrics:

“Even walkin’ alone, I’m not worried

I feel your arms all around me

In the air on the streets of the city

Feels like I am free (it’s got me thinkin’)

Gemini May 21st – June 20th

“Don’t Call Me Angel”

The energy in this song is unmatched. The seductive and intense polarity of heaven and hell overwhelm you. Just like a Gemini is known for having 2 sides, so does this song.

Featured Lyrics:

“I appreciate the way you watch me, I can’t lie

I drop it down, I pick it up, I back it off the county line

I fell from Heaven, now I’m living like a devil

You can’t get me off your mind

Cancer June 21st – July 22

“Summertime Sadness”

Being that Cancer season falls during the summer coupled with cancer being a water sign, this song simply just embodies cancer energy.

Featured Lyrics:

“Kiss me hard before you go

Summertime sadness

I just wanted you to know,

That, baby, you’re the best

I got that summertime sadness”

Leo July 23rd – Aug 22nd

“National Anthem”

In this song, Lana romanticizes everything about America, the beautiful and the ugly. The lyrics are sensual and make you want to run away with your lover to the Hamptons for the rest of the summer. The Leo energy truly shines in the title, as Leo’s love hard and want to be loved even harder.

Featured Lyrics:

“Tell me I’m your national anthem

(Sugar sugar, how now, take your body downtown)

Red, white, blue is in the sky

Summer’s in the air and, baby, heaven’s in

Your eyes

I’m your national anthem”

Virgo Aug 23 – Sept 23rd

“In My Feelings”

Lana is candid in her love life and is not afraid to put her lover on blast for all the things they’ve done to her. In true Virgo spirit, she subtly flexes on her success with the line “Makin love while I’m makin good money.” Then, in the pre-chorus, she exposes her lover for wasting her time.

Featured Lyrics:

“You’ve been wastin’ my time

While you’re takin’ what’s mine with the

Things that you’re doin’”

Libra Sept 22nd – Oct 23rd

“Lust For Life”

Libra’s are known for their adventurous and lavish lifestyle, as well as their complicated love lives. This song perfectly explores those very themes and the Weeknd’s feature makes it all the more better.

Featured Lyrics:

“Cause we’re the masters of our own fate

We’re the captains of our own souls

There’s no way for us to come late

Cause boy, we’re gold”

Scorpio Oct 23 – Nov 21

“The Greatest”

Scorpio’s are passionate lovers and being that they are a water sign, this makes sense. The Greatest explores the painful nostalgia of reminiscing on a past relationship. It is beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.

Featured Lyrics:

“Those nights were on fire

We couldn’t get higher

We didn’t know that we had it all

But nobody warns you before the fall”

Sagittarius Nov 22 – December 21

“Young and Beautiful”

Sagittarius’ are strong-willed and know what they want. They are not afraid to say what is on their mind and the bold lyrics of this song compliment all of those qualities.

Featured Lyrics:

“I’ve seen the world, lit it up

As my stage now

Channeling angels in a new age now

Hot summer days, rock and roll”

Capricorn Dec 22nd – Jan 19th

“When the world was at war we kept dancing”

The determination of a Capricorn is never-ending. In this song, two lovers do not stop dancing even in the face of their country falling apart. They may seem tough on the outside but have sensitive hearts and love fiercely.

Featured Lyrics:

“If we hold on to hope, we’ll have our happy endin’

When the world was at war before

We just kept dancin”

Aquarius Jan 20th – Feb 20th

“How To Disappear”

This song candidly explores mixed feelings and a partner who doesn’t even know themselves. Aquarius’ are very personable and known to be a magnet for people who don’t truly know themselves either.

Featured Lyrics:

“Haven’t seen you ‘round here lately

All of the guys tell me lies, but you don’t

You just crack another beer

And pretend that you’re still here”

Pisces Feb 19th – March 20th

“Sad Girl”

Pisces have the sweetest souls. They are incredibly creative and romantic. Sad Girl was written about Lana being unable to control things and her mixed emotions that come to the surface while reminiscing about failed relationships. She is very in her feelings during this song, just like a Pisces.

Featured Lyrics:

“Watch what you say to me

Careful who you’re talking to

I’m on fire, baby

I’m on fire”
