Visiting the Glossier Pop-Up Shop

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emmanuel chapter.

Glossier, an amazing online makeup brand, recently graced Boston with a temporary brick and mortar shop in the Seaport District. After just about everyone I knew posted an instagram in front of the Glossier sign over the past two months, I decided it was time to see it for myself. This past Friday, my friend and I finally got to see the pop-up shop, and I even got a picture in fron of the sign.

The store was organized a lot differently than I would’ve assumed. The products are all split up into little mini houses, so you can browse the line based off of what you’re looking for. There are also certain buildings that have all of the products in one location if you’d rather look at the whole line at once.

The store didn’t run like a normal store either. When we arrived, we were given a booklet and a mini pencil that listed all of the products. While you’re walking around, you can check off the products in the shades you want, then when you’re done, one of the employees dressed in an all pink jumpsuit would help place your order. It was super easy and convenient to buy stuff, which made it pretty tempting.

I was mostly going to the shop just to browse in the hopes of not spending money, but since the shop made that virtually impossible, I indugled in a few products. One of the products I ended up going home with is called “Lidstar,” which is a liquid shimmery eyeshadow. It’s perfect for people like me, who aren’t that great at applying eyeshadow, but still want a little extra something on your lids. The other product I got, which I’m obsessed with, is called Cloud Paint, which is a liquid blush tint. It’s perfect for a natural blush look, and since it’s liquid, it’s more moisturizing than a lot of powder blushes are.

One of the things I really like about the brand, is their focus on personal choice and individual expression, and I think that the way the shops are set up makes it easy to get an individual experience. I’ve always been interested in the brand, and being able to actually shop through an actual store made me love it even more. I would tell you to visit the shop, but it’s not open in Boston anymore, although I definitely recommend checking out their website for some amazing products.
