Now that September is over it’s officially fall, the unofficial best season of the year! So, if you’re ready for sweater wearing, apple cider drinking, and cozy days here are my top three movies to get you in the mood for fall:

  1. You’ve got mail

You’ve Got Mail starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan is for all the fall book lovers out there. Set in New York City, the story follows Kathleen Kelly, the owner of an independent bookstore, and Joe Fox who works for a chain bookstore. The two correspond over email to know who the other person really is until circumstances and fate throw them together. From the backdrop of New York and the autumnal scenery, this movie will make you want to curl up with a good book. Not to mention that Meg Ryan is the queen of fall fashion, this movie is a must watch for the season.

  1. Dead Poets Society

Dead Poets Society is a dark academia movie. Set at an all boys boarding school in New England, the movie follows a group of students who are enthralled by their new English teacher’s methods of education. Mr. Keating, who is played by Robin Williams, encourages the boys to learn the art of poetry and to observe the beauty in nature, as opposed to staying on their predestined career path. This film depicts the love of friendship and literature as well as the challenges of choosing your future.

  1. Little Women (2019)

Last, but certainly not least, is Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of Little Women. Apart from being an iconic story and having a star studded cast this movie brings all the fall and family feels. Based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott, the story goes through the lives of the March sisters: Meg, Jo, Amy, and Beth. We see their loves, dreams and adventures centered around their family and friends. This classic story gives off the nostalgia of fall as well as the holiday spirit.

Whichever Fall aesthetic you’re going for this year, I hope these films help you get in the mood for changing leaves and the holiday season.
