Whether you’re spending Valentine’s day alone, with friends, or have a special someone, these are some of my favorite romantic movies that are perfect to celebrate love!

About Time

Tim (Domhnall Gleeson) is a 21 year old who finds out from his father a family secret: all the men in the family can time travel. He uses his new skill to land a girlfriend, Mary (Rachel McAdams). I love this movie because it’s very wholesome and romantic. The wedding scene is great because everything goes terribly wrong, but it’s still a great day and the chemistry between the characters is unmatched.

Notting Hill

Will (Hugh Grant) is a divorced man living in Notting Hill, England who has a chance encounter with actress Anna Scott (Julia Roberts). The movie is about their relationship as Scott navigates being with a commoner while being famous. A highlight of this movie is the birthday dinner scene where Will’s friends meet Anna. It’s an overall great scene because the actors look and act like genuine friends you would want to spend time with.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Peter (Jason Segal) is the boyfriend of the famous Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell) until she breaks up with him for singer Aldous Snow (Russell Brand). He goes to Hawaii to escape from the break up but ends up seeing Sarah and her new boyfriend. The front desk worker Rachel (Mila Kunis) is sympathetic to him and they form a relationship. This movie is very lighthearted and comedic. I can’t pick one scene in particular that stands out, but it’s enjoyable to watch Segal and Kunis, an unlikely pair, together.

Crazy Rich Asians

Rachel Chu (Constance Wu) is an economics professor at NYU dating Nick Young (Henry Golding). Nick invites her to his friend’s wedding in Singapore and Rachel finds out that Nick’s family is fabulously wealthy. Rachel, an Asian American with a single mother, is very different from Nick’s traditional mother, Eleanor (Michelle Yeoh), and the two butt heads throughout the film. A scene that stands out from this movie is the wedding scene. It comes at the peak of the film’s drama and it’s beautiful, especially considering it’s a $40 million wedding.

Always Be My Maybe

Sasha Tran (Ali Wong) and Marcus Kim (Randall Park) are childhood best friends who grew up in San Francisco. The movie shows their bond as kids and then awkward teenagers. They grow apart as they get older. Sasha becomes a celebrity chef and Marcus stays home and works with his father. They reconnect and rediscover the spark between them. This movie is funny and ridiculous at times. Keanu Reeves makes an appearance as himself which is very random but really comedic. A scene I enjoyed was when they were kids and Marcus’ mom would teach Sasha how to cook.

I hope you enjoyed this list of my personal favorite romantic movies. Happy Valentine’s Day!
