WARNING: I have never been and could never be a dancer, this is strictly based on pure vibes.
I want to start by saying that I genuinely love “Dancing With the Stars”, especially since this was something I started to watch because of my sister. And after I went off to college, this was always something we could talk about and connect through. I’m not going to lie, I was disappointed with the casting this season. I know this might be controversial but when I think of “Dancing With the Stars”, I’m thinking of people that are big and popular but I didn’t get that with a few of the cast members. However, there were still a lot of people that I was excited to see this season so I was still so excited to watch it.
First, my thoughts on the boys night. Now that two episodes have passed, I can say that I knew from the beginning that Guillermo was going to be another “Andy Richter scenario”. Don’t get me wrong, I wanted him to prove me wrong. But after that first dance where he just rolled on the floor like a pancake, I knew he needed to go. I mean, even Whitney was shocked that Adele and Conner L. went home and not them. Speaking of Conner L. and Adele, I don’t know what they did on that dance floor, and I don’t have dance experience but that was not ballroom dancing. I think we can all agree that he should have gone home, but I still think he had more potential than Guillermo.
Next, Tyler Cameron and Sharna. First, I am so happy that Sharna is back; she was one of my favorite pros. Also, can we talk about their dance from night two..? jaw dropped, especially at the “Garett Graham” dance, just perfection. Now onto his dancing, I still think he is a little stiff and he needs to loosen up, but I think he has some potential. If I could compare him to previous contestants, I would say he’s close to Dylan Efron from last season. Also, I thought Tyler Cameron was way older than what he is (he needs to stop with the botox).
Next, Jackson Olson. As someone who loves the Savannah Bannanas, I just don’t think he will get as far as people think he will. I see potential, but just not enough to take him to the end, however I am glad that Emma finally got a young partner. Which brings me to Britt and Taylor (i’m still mad she didn’t get Harry). I just don’t think he will make it far because there are so many good competitors this year but their night two dance was so good, I just love Britt’s choreography. For Connor Wood, I think he can get better, but I thought both of their dances so far were just too boring especially for someone that is young and can move. I want to see more from them, but right now, I don’t have a clue on his dancing skills. Which brings me to my last two guys ,Harry Shum Jr. and Ezra Frech. After night one, I was between these two for winning, but now that I watched night two… I’m sorry Harry but Ezra is going to take the mirrorball trophy home. That dance was pure perfection and it’s only night two, Dani’s choreography will never be beaten.
Now onto the girl’s first, let’s talk about the two that have been eliminated, Sarah Jane Nader and Giada De Laurentiis. I don’t think Sarah Jane would have made it far, and I think I would have also chosen them to go home. As much as I love Hailey and would have loved to see more of her choreography, I don’t think it would have been depicted well enough by Sarah Jane. She was off beat the entire dance and she is giving me the same energy that her sister gave off; “I’m better than everyone else” and I just don’t agree with that.
As for Giada, she was here for her daughter and I loved that, but I think Alan couldn’t give her his choreography because it is more advanced; he had to make it more fragile for her and these two dances were just terrible. Which brings me to Tatyanna and Jan. First off, Jan is my all time favorite with his DTM lists and unhinged Live’s so I really want him to make it far this year. While I did see an improvement in night two, I don’t think it is enough to get them far as there are so many people that have gotten steps that she isn’t quite getting yet. As for Julia and Ezra, which I think is the perfect pairing, I loved their first dance. It was so entertaining, but for night two, I don’t know if it was just me, but I didn’t love it and I still think she is too stiff.
As for Ciara and Brandon, I think she is a beautiful dancer but I think her downfall will be that she is in her head too much- and you can see that while she is dancing. She is trying to think about what step is next to avoid making a mistake. For Maura and Mark, night one was perfect but I think her wearing the long dress and the fog on night one hid her legs and form because night two was definitely not as good. But, that is expected because it’s only night two and she has no dance experience, so I think Mark can take her far.
Now for the last two female stars, Jenna and Amber, I think Jenna is good, and considering she does have dance experience, I just think she isn’t giving me a “wow” factor, unlike Amber who in my opinion is the best female dancer of the season. She has so much potential and as much as I want Dani and Ezra to win because they are so good, I hope that Amber and Pasha win because Pasha needs to see that he is an amazing dancer and deserves to go far in the season.
For my final rankings taking into account the three already eliminated:
- Daniella and Ezra
- Pasha and Amber
- Jenna J. and Harry
- Brandon and Ciara
- Val and Jenna D.
- Mark and Maura
- Emma and Jackson
- Rylee and Connor W.
- Sharna and Tyler
- Julia and Ezra
- Britt and Taylor
- Jan and Tatyanna
- Whitney and Guillermo (I’m hoping)
- Alan and Giada
- Hailey and Sarah Jane
- Adele and Conner L.
