Meet ECHabitat for Humanity team member Jeff Zakrzewski!
Class Year: 2017
Major: Biology with a minor in Economics
Her Campus at Emmanuel: What made you choose to join EC Habitat?
Jeff Zakrzewski: I chose to join Habitat because I got dragged on a build by Keith my freshman year and fell in love with the organization. Their philosophy of “a hand up, not a hand out” is something I firmly believe in. It is essential to not only give someone the physical assistance but the tools to succeed in life.
HCE: What are you most looking forward to on the spring break trip?
JZ: Getting to know new students that I would not have the opportunity to meet otherwise.
HCE: What does it mean to you to know that you are making a difference in someone’s life?
JZ: Everything. What is your life worth if you don’t make a meaningful impact on somebody else?
HCE: What is your favorite thing to do (or what you hope to do) on the build?
JZ: I love to get people out of their comfort zone, either by helping them learn how to use power tools or getting them to sing along to Pandora with me.
HCE: Favorite memory with EC Habitat?
JZ: Noor breaking a nail in half on a build.
HCE: What is a mantra or quote that you live by?
JZ: “My life is a giant mess and I love it.” – Andy Dwyer
