As you may or may not know, Emmanuel is on the hunt for the “Big Man on Campus”. In November, the nominees will come together to compete for the title. The winner will represent Emmanuel in a number of different ways throughout the year, including presenting an award at the Student Leadership Reception, sitting on student panels and committees, being involved in athletics events, and more! We decided to interview each of the nominees (and definite cuties) before their big night on November 12. Up first, sophomore and great OL partner ever, Tim Furtado! HCE: How does it feel to be a Big Man on Campus nominee?
TF: I honestly didn’t really know what it was about up until the competition. Like, I got the nomination… still didn’t know what it was about. Then Kevin just filled me in and [now] we’re having fun. It’s a great time.
HCE: What’s your favorite thing about Emmanuel?
TF: The people here. Everyone here that I’ve met or interacted with is really nice and willing to have a conversation. The friends I’ve made here are top notch quality!
HCE: Where can someone find you the weekends?
TF: Honestly, not on campus. But I don’t have a specific place. On Saturdays, I work all day– Green Tea Coffee Shop, roll through, I’ll be there. Then Sundays, whatever I end up doing.
HCE: I know you’re a big Lana Del Rey fan. What’s your favorite song and what would you say to her if you met her?
TF: I love Lana, love! My favorite song is “Ride” because that music video is genius. Umm… I don’t know what I would say to her. I don’t know what I would first ask her. Definitely for a picture at some point. But I don’t think that would be the first thing I’d ask for.
HCE: Finally, what’s a motto that you live by?
TF: Ooh, I have a lot of those! Probably, “you win some, you lose some”.
