2026 is a year of new beginnings, from trying something new to finding your next favorite binge, and most importantly, learning to set boundaries that help you stay grounded this year. These are my official In’s and Out’s for the year:
Selfies – IN
With the rise of the “Bring Back 2016” trend, it’s time to bring back casual posting and fill our Instagram feeds with laid-back selfies. No more need for stressing over perfectly curated, high-quality photos when selfies are back in style.
Side Quests – IN
There’s nothing better than going on an adventure with your besties, and with Galentine’s Day right around the corner, there’s no better excuse to explore your city, whether that means trying a new activity or going on the lookout for a new sweet treat.
FOMO – OUT
Watching everyone else live their best lives on social media can be tough, but 2026 is the year we stop moping, log off, and actually get out and do. It’s time to prioritize romanticising your own life.
Arts and Crafts – IN
Stress is a total buzzkill, especially as the semester picks up. One easy way to combat it is by picking up a simple, creative hobby. Whether that’s coloring for a few minutes or trying something more rewarding like crochet, it never hurts to give it a try.
Overdressing – IN
Nothing beats feeling confident in your own skin, and sometimes all it takes is a little dress-up moment. 2026 is about ditching other people’s opinions and wearing what makes you feel good.
Excessive Screentime – OUT
Although it isn’t always easy, choosing to be present matters. It’s time that we put the phone down and give ourselves the chance to experience life as it’s happening.
So here’s to 2026: a year to live fully, try new things, and embrace your best self. Because the only trends that matter are the ones that make you feel like the best version of you.
