Emmanuel’s Christmas Tree Lighting!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emmanuel chapter.

On December 1st, Emmanuel College held its annual Christmas Tree Lighting on the quad! Though it was quite chilly, everyone’s hearts were warm through the night.

The event took place right in front of our Nativity Scene. Before the lighting, For Good Measure did a beautiful performance of “Mary, Did you Know?” by Pentatonix. Then, President Mary K. Boyd delivered a short holiday speech and led the countdown to light the tree! On one, all of the colorful lights lit up and filled the area with a bright glow. The crowd went wild and cheered, with everyone gathering to take photos of and film the gorgeous tree.

After a second performance of “Feliz Navidad,” we were led inside for some holiday cookies and hot cocoa. The cookies ranged from gingerbread men to frosted ones shaped like candy canes. The hot cocoa was delicious, and really helped me warm up after standing in the freezing cold.

This was a very fun and exciting way to kick off the holidays, and get everyone into the spirit.
