  1. Scream

“Do you like scary movies?”

This classic is so fun to watch around Halloween time, and is one of my favorite horror movies. Scream is definitely not too scary, and it is more funny than anything. I love the first scene of the movie with Drew Barrymore talking on the phone with Ghostface, it is absolutely iconic. If you like hot villains and even hotter “final girls”, this one is for you.

  1. The Rocky Horror Picture Show

“I would like, if I may, to take you on a strange journey”

Where do I even begin? This film is my absolute favorite to watch for Halloween. Rocky Horror is a whirlwind of camp, queerness, and insanity and I love it so much. I am not going to even attemot to  describe the plot, you just have to watch it for yourself. The music, dancing, and acting are beyond great, and Tim Curry is showstopping in the role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter. The last 30 minutes of the movie are just gold, I definitely recommend this one!

  1. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

“A person should always choose a costume which is in direct contrast to her own personality”

This movie is required to be watched during the fall. Any Peanuts short film will give you an instant serotonin boost, but this one in particular is so precious. There are so many fall visuals within the movie, where they are going to the pumpkin patch and trick or treating together, and it is too cute. If you are looking for a more family-friendly version of Halloween movies, this is it!

  1. The Craft

“We are the weirdos, mister”

This movie is for the lovers of “witchy” things, but expect to be scared when you watch this. It is not a terrifying movie, but I still feel like it identifies with the horror genre. The Craft is truly modern witchcraft meets Heathers, and it is the perfect film to watch to get you in the mood for Halloween.

  1. Jennifer’s Body

“Hell is a teenage girl”

Jennifer’s Body is a must-watch during Halloween! Despite its controversial nature and bimbo-esque aesthetic, Jennifer’s Body has a deep commitment to exploring interpersonal female relationships. It is a great watch on its own but can be a deep conversation starter for sure.
