5 Reasons Why You Should Re-watch Jersey Shore

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emmanuel chapter.

1. It is the most outrageous, hilarious and offensive show ever!

I remember having to sneakily watch Jersey Shore whenever my parents weren’t in the room or having to stay up extremely late to watch the latest episode. It’s so inappropriate, but it’s one of the most ridiculous shows you could ever watch. The antics of the cast were so over dramatic and entertaining, you literally did not want to stop watching.

2. Live vicariously through the cast!

Love them or hate them, they were, without a doubt, the most amusing cast on TV. Whether you were laughing at Snooki and Deena, loving Vinnie and Pauly’s “bromance” or hoping it would be Ronnie and Sami’s last fight and they would officially break up, you felt connected to them when they were cramped up in the Shore house. Today some of us (including my friends and I), still will use their slang– because everyone should know what “GTL” means.

3. Fashion advice

What Ed Hardy T-shirts, indoor sunglasses or cheetah/zebra print shirts are not in style anymore? If not now, they definitely were during my middle school days. At every middle school dance, you would see girls rocking the boldly patterned shirts with the big poof requesting “house“ music. Looking back at pictures from my middle school years, I can confirm that Jersey Shore transformed preteens to young adults through clothing.

4. Emotional attachment

After the first episode, you begin to have a soft spot for every cast member (except maybe not Angelina). You connect to them and realize that even though they all pretend to have a thick exterior, they are all 20-something year olds trying to find their place in the world.  There were times throughout the show that displayed that the cast were actually human and not just crazy party animals. For instance, when Nicole (“Snooki”) got physically assaulted at one of the bars, you not only experienced the horror of that incident’s aftermath, but you also saw how visibly distraught her fellow cast members were. After that incident, it was evident the cast realized they were all a family and needed to watch out for one another. There were many moments in which the cast seemed just like any of us– from this assault to Vinny’s anxiety causing him to go on a hiatus from the show– where they experienced emotional and physical issues we all can relate to.

5. April 5th (The Reunion)

Finally, Jersey Shore Family Vacation will air Thursday April 5th on MTV! I have been counting down the days, as many (I hope) have, till we get to see one of the best reality show casts together again to wreak havoc, party and be their wild selves once again in Miami!

Hi I'm Angela McPhee, I am a Communications and Media Studies major with a minor in Marketing. I love being active (physically and mentally ), but also I love those days where you literally dont move from your bed and just watch the Office.
Gianna is a freshman at Emmanuel College and is really excited to see what this year has in store for her. Along with writing for Her Campus, Gianna participates in Yoga Club, Zumba Club, and Colleges of the Fenway Dance Project. In her free time, you will most likely find her watching Friends and sipping tea out of her Central Perk mug.
