Holiday Chocolate Pretzel Treats

What you’ll need:

  • Regular or yogurt-covered pretzels
  • Holiday colored M&M’s
  • York Peppermint Pieces
  • Hershey’s Kisses

This recipe is extremely easy to do and the salty pretzels combined with sweet chocolate are so delicious!  First, lay out pretzels on a microwave safe plate.  I used yogurt-covered pretzels because I wanted to go with colors that were holiday-themed, but the yogurt melted a little.  You can also use regular pretzels.

Unwrap the Hershey’s Kisses and place one on top of each pretzel.  Put the plate in the microwave for about a minute.  You want the Kisses to be slightly melted so the M&M’s and York Pieces will rest in the chocolate.  If the Kisses aren’t soft enough, try another thirty seconds to a minute in the microwave.
Once the Kisses are melted, press M&M’s and York Pieces into the Kisses alternating colors between green, red, and blue.

Put the pretzels into the fridge and wait until the chocolate has cooled before enjoying!

Gingerbread Hot Chocolate

*Adapted from The Avid Appetite

What you’ll need:

  • Hot chocolate mix
  • 3 tablespoon molasses
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Milk
  • Whipped cream
  • Mini marshmallows

In a small sauce pan, combine molasses, Splenda, water, cinnamon, and ginger over medium heat.  Stir until ingredients have melted together and mixture thickens.

Make hot chocolate mix to your liking with milk.  Add a spoonful of gingerbread syrup to the hot chocolate and mix in.  Top with whipped cream and mini marshmallows!  Cozy up with your hot chocolate and a good book on your bed and take a break from studying!

Stay tuned next week for the last installment of Winter Recipes!  I have a tasty family recipe waiting to be shared!
