Why Valentines Day Can Be Even Better When You’re Single

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and for those of us without a special someone to share it with, it can be pretty depressing. Luckily, it doesn’t have to be! There are just as many pros of spending the day alone or with friends as there are of spending it with a significant other.

Are you the kind of person who can’t stand Valentine’s Day if you don’t have a date? You shouldn’t be!

Most importantly, you don’t have to shave your legs for anyone but yourself.

You can eat all the Valentines candy you want without having to worry about impressing anyone.

You can order take out and watch Netflix in your pajamas instead of having to spend all that time getting ready for a date!

And you can drink a heaping cup of hot chocolate with EXTRA marshmallows, because you deserve it.

You don’t have to worry about spending your next paycheck on a V-Day present.

Or spend tons of time thinking about what would be a good gift, and ultimately buying something at the last minute anyway.

Whether you’re out with your significant other or spending the night watching rom-coms with your best friends, Valentine’s Day can be enjoyed by all.

After all, Valentine’s Day is about celebrating love, and that doesn’t have to be romantic love! Friends and family should get some love, too.
