Where to Give Back in Boston This Holiday Season

We’re now about halfway into the holiday season, and more than any other time during the year, we are reminded how important it is to give back to our community. By no means is this the only time we should be thinking about others, but there are an increased number of opportunities available to help others during the holidays that everyone should take advantage of!

WAAF’s  “Rock for Change” Event

Where: On radio station 97.7FM and 107.3FM

When: December 9th, 10th, and 11th “all around the clock”

What: Listen to 97.7FM or 107.3FM and “pay to play” $50 for song requests. All proceeds will go to the Greater Boston Food Bank.

Holiday Open House

Where: St. Francis House, 39 Boylston St.

When: December 9th, 5:30-7:30pm

What: Donate some of your spare winter clothes to those at St. Francis House.

Salvation Army’s “Christmas Castle”

Where: Greater Boston Area

What: Volunteer to help families pick out toys and coats for their children.

Give Blood at a Local Donation Center

Where: All over Boston

When: Anytime! There are at least two blood drives in Boston a day.

What: Help save lives all by giving blood during the holiday season. There are almost 30 blood drives going on throughout December 9th-16th.

Volunteering at the Local Animal Rescue League

Where: 10 Chandler Street, Boston

When: Weekly/Daytime

What: Animals need love too this holiday season! During the season, the Boston ARL is trying to put together a volunteer group to help with dog walking, pet food organizing and more.
