For the past two months, my emotions have possessed me so much so that my fleeting feelings cannot register the constraints of Daylight Saving Time or the weather change.  Who knew that in exchange for a no-shadow Groundhog Day, northern Japan would fall behind the shadow of smoke, debris, and collapsed buildings after the devastating disaster that occurred on March 11? A collaborative and integral community of music industry professionals and fans set up a donation fund via the Music for Relief foundation, which has been retweeted since then by the thousands. Although generation Y has yet to see music directly affect any political or social movements in our lifetime, we all need to be supportive and engaged in the larger human conversation by following our passions to affect change.  Because I am passionate about music and writing, I have put together this playlist featuring some of the year’s best upcoming artists that are breaking new ground with sounds that will keep you pleasantly confused throughout the spring.

1. Peacebone by Animal Collective

2. Fly & Freaky by The White Panda

3. Bury Me in Smoke by Burnt Ones

4. ep by Junior Boys

5. Katy on a Mission by Katy B

6. What U Wanna by Dela (Feat. Blu)

7. Take Off Your Cool by Sartorial Sounds
