Hey Her Campus Emerson readers!
My name is Caitlin and I am one of the new post-grad bloggers. I recently graduated from Emerson with a BA in Writing, Literature and Publishing and a minor in Journalism. I spent this past summer in Boston finishing up the last of my classes and interning at Boston Magazine, which was an all around amazing experience. However, as I’m writing this post, I am preparing for my move home to New Jersey for an indefinite amount of time (something I’ve been dreading all summer). I realize that this does not sound like the best or most glamorous post-grad plan— trust me, I’d rather be heading to NYC where I would have landed an amazing job at one of the Hearst or Condé Nast magazines… but the reality is that living in Boston (though totally worth it) was really expensive and now I need to live at home (rent free!) to save for awhile to be able to afford my move to the Big Apple.
It’s comforting to know that I’m not the only one. A lot of my friends have had to do the same, and I’m sure many of you will have to too once you get your diploma. My plan for this blog is to chronicle the ins and outs of the reality of post-grad (and post-Emerson) life. The pains of finding a job, living with your parents again, and adjusting to life as an adult. Tips on how to make the most of your resume and stand out in an interview. And most importantly, what you should be taking advantage of while you’re still in school and in Boston.
I hope you’re all ready for an amazing year at school and for tons of life advice from everyone at HC Emerson! Talk to you soon!
xoxo Caitlin
