Marathon weekend gets super busy in Boston. For years now, I have escaped the business and opted for a relaxing weekend outside of the city. Below are a few fun places to visit during the long weekend.

Portland, Maine

Escape Boston and head north to Portland, ME. The quaint city is filled with delicious restaurants, shops, and plenty of history. Walk along the water or venture into downtown and explore the the several art galleries. While you are there, make sure to stop by the food stand “Mr. Tuna!” They have the best sushi burrito and other delights for you to eat!

Newport, Rhode Island

Looking to lavish in the historical mansions of some of America’s elite? Newport, RI has the beauty of the coast and the mansions of Gatsby! Hop from one home to the next and enjoy a delightful lunch downtown.

Rockport, MA

Head up to Cape Ann for a stroll around Rockport, MA. Feel the breeze of the ocean and enjoy some delicious salt water taffy. Go all the way up to BearSkin Neck for a lovely picture of the Atlantic. It is the perfect getaway for family or friends.

Salem, MA

Interested in learning about the area’s witch history? Head over to Salem for the weekend and enjoy the incredible history, as well as its bursting food scene. From so many restaurants and shops to choose from, you will not be disappointed.

Marathon weekend can get chaotic in Boston. Spend the time exploring outside of the city!
