A Look at Emerson Fashion Society’s Annual Fashion Show: Fashion Odyssey

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

Last Sunday, Emerson Fashion Society hosted their annual fashion show. This year’s event, entitled “Fashion Odyssey,” was a great success, and featured pieces from eight different Emerson students who presented creative collections that they have been working on for the past several months. Their hard work certainly paid off, and helped Emerson Fashion Society raise money for The Trevor Project, a national organization whose purpose is to provide crisis and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth.

Here are a few highlights of the evening’s event:

A piece from Kate Spalla’s dessert-inspired collection, Bonbon.

From the collection Lutescens, by designers Bonnie Ong, Johanna Silver, and Lacey Russell.

From Ariel Knoebel’s collection, Wanted. Knoebel was awarded the opportunity to make a costume for a BFA film expected to be made this summer!

From the collection Every Creep for Himself, by designer Kristin Arzt. She actually used real bones for this dress!

A piece from the collection Classic MG, by Thespi Guatieri and Sarah Schneider.

A knitted scarf from Eric Maxwell and Lizzie Swerdlin’s collection, Stitch N Bitch, which featured handmade knit accessories.

From the collection Runaway Runway, by designers Patria Ferragamo and Angela Armijo.

Emily Sawich modeling designs from her own collection, Whim Songs. Sawich was presented the award for Best Designer.

Following the fashion show, Brianna Baxter accepts the title of the 2011 Emerson’s Next Top Model.

She is co-web director for Emerson's lifestyle magazine and a social media intern at Children's Hospital Boston. She previously was a city desk co-op at The Boston Globe and a news intern at The New Haven Register and Hersam Acorn Newspapers in Connecticut. She enjoys drinking too many macchiatos, singing loudly when no one's listening, dancing whenever possible, and learning how to cook a mean tomato sauce (slowly but surely). After graduating in May, Shana would love to manage and write web content for a company in Massachusetts or Connecticut, where her family lives.
