How to Turn “Hot Girl Summer” into “Hot Girl Semester”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

This summer was hot and sweaty. This summer had the largest amount of women running for president under a major party ticket. This summer has a Taylor Swift album that gave us all the feels, PRIDE, and anti-patriarchal rage. This summer Cardi B became the first female rapper to have two No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.

The term “Hot Girl Summer,” starting as a song by Megan Thee Stallion, has taken this summer to a whole nother level of self-love for those who took it upon themselves to incorporate self-love into their summer fun time routine. But what this upcoming fall season has showed us is that “Hot Girl Summer” is more than just a catch phrase, or bagging summer bop. It’s a movement—and it’s showing no sign of stopping.

Here are some tips to keep this semester as hot as you feel.

Stay Confident

Were you rocking a high-cut or high-waisted bikini this summer and feeling hot AF in your Insta pics? Well, no one’s telling you to stop (though the bikini may get a bit chilly by November). Keep on wearing what makes you feel your best. If that’s sweats and a big t-shirt—awesome! If that’s jeans and a lacy top—you do you! Embrace yourself and keep sharing that body positivity with yourself.

Stay Fierce

Not only should you feel confident on who you are—but act that way. Show other people how incredible you are and encourage them to feel the same. Gas your girls up. Support each other when things don’t go perfect. Own yourself and your flaws. Stay fiercely you.

Stay Motivated

With schoolwork comes more physical work and more responsibility. It’s time for your shining moment to continue in all facets of your life. Don’t just post that bomb picture on Instagram or slide into that cutie’s DMs. Post your resume to prospective jobs and internships. Slide into clubs and activities that you’re interested in. Show everyone your best self and your semester is bound fantastic.
