Can you believe it? We made it! Winter break, finally! After months of studying and filming and writing tons of papers, we finally get a break. Now before we leave Emerson for a month, we must go through finals week.

On top of the stress for finals this is also the time when we have to pack up our rooms to perfection in fear of getting the $25 dollar “clean room” charge because of a few dust bunnies. But don’t freak out just yet. If you budget your time correctly, you’ll have plenty of time to pack, study, and ace all your exams.

Here are five tips on how to pack for winter break: But before you begin reading the tips just know, if you stay off of Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter, all of this will go much quicker.

  • The most important items in your room that must be packed away are your clothes and shoes. You’re going home for a month, time to show everyone from high school just how much better looking you got in college. Pack all your clothes away and then make sure you get all the dust out of the drawers, you can Windex the inside.
  • Look at your desk; I’m sure it’s filled with tons of pens and papers. This is a good time to look through your papers and decide what you would like to keep and what you don’t want to keep. Ask yourselves, which papers mean something to you and what papers will just take up space. Put all your supplies in a bin or a drawer and put the papers in the trash. Now move away from your desk, you’re done studying and doing work.

Keep your pens and pencils organized!

  • Yes, your floor probably still has crumbs from those chips you ate during midterm studying. This would be a good time to clear everything off your floor and vacuum it.
  • Now let’s get that Windex out and start spraying everything to make sure the whole room is looking squeaky clean. Get the windows and outside of the closet. Even make sure your bed poles are looking good.
  • Lastly, organize your books and LEAVE THEM WHERE THEY ARE! Give yourself a break this winter; you really deserve it. No point in bringing any books home because you won’t be using them.

Don’t bring books!

Happy Finals Week ~ Enjoy packing!
