How to Dress Warm and Still Be Stylish

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

When I was younger, it seemed that every time winter came around, what little fashion sense I had seemed to go out the window. I would layer on every article of clothing, regardless of color, and ended up looking like the kid from A Christmas Story. What I didn’t realize at the time that I do realize now is that it is definitely possible to be warm and still look cute. Here are a few ways to do so.

1. Scarves

The light, decorative scarves do not have to be the only ones that you can accessorize with. Putting on a chunky, knit scarf can be just as stylish and, when done right, can bring an entire outfit together. Not only are you keeping your neck warm, but you are doing so with an awesome accessory.

2. Beanies

I have yet to come across a girl that does not look cute in a beanie. These adorable hats are perfect for keeping your head and ears warm on those extra chilly days. Not only this, but they almost instantly add edginess to any outfit.

3. Fleece-lined tights

Just because it is winter does not need you mean to put away for you favorite skirts and dresses. Just throw a pair of fleece-lined tights or leggings underneath and you are good to go. Not only will you be getting more use out of your clothes, but you will be nice and warm while doing so.

4. Layers, layers, layers!

Layering does not have to be like when your mother put every article of clothing on you when you were a child. Layering can actually be quite fashionable, as well as warm. It also allows you to continue wearing your lighter articles of clothing.
