There are so many fun ways to celebrate holidays as a college student in Boston. Halloween provides a ton of opportunities for people who like scary things, fun fall activities, and everything in between. While there is by no means an exhaustive list, here is a taste of some upcoming events to check out this season.
Movie Screenings
Many places are re-releasing classic Halloween movies. Hocus Pocus will be back to participating AMC theaters, including the Loews near Emerson, from October 26-31. The Brattle Theatre in Cambridge will be showing a variety of sci-fi and horror movies from the 24-31. If you’re up for the challenge, try Brookline’s Coolidge Corner Theatre for an overnight horror movie marathon from October 27-28, where you can watch The War of the Worlds, Alien, and five other surprise movies that will be revealed as they air.
Pet Costume Contests
Is there anything better than seeing a bunch of dogs that are all dressed up for Halloween? On October 27, stop by either the Charles River Esplanade or Faneuil Hall from noon to 2 PM to watch a parade of pups march by in their costumes.
Rocky Horror
The Saturday before Halloween would be the best time to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show event at the AMC Loews near campus. Relive this crazy movie experience (or try it for the first time!) while the Full Body Cast performs live alongside the film.
The SoWa Open Market has been held since May, but be sure to stop by the final weekend of the season on October 28 from 10 AM to 4 PM. You can stop by events like free pumpkin and face painting, costume contests, and giveaways.
If you’ve never used it, emconnect.emerson.edu is Emerson’s one-stop website for all events and organization meetings. Make sure to check out the events tab to catch up on any Halloween building events held by RAs, fundraisers, and gatherings.
