In the past few years, Spotify has quickly turned into my go-to app for doing just about anything, whether it be walking to class or just relaxing in my room. I find myself relying heavily on music to allow me to live out my dream of being the main character strutting down the street, and the never ending page of playlists to browse through has left me fulfilled with songs for any and every mood, especially with Spotify’s “my life is a movie” playlist. Whether it be the “Mood Booster” playlist to get me ready to grind on homework or the “Your Favorite Coffeehouse” leaving me feeling the coffee shop vibes even in my dorm room, it seems like Spotify always has my back when it comes to playing songs to make me feel better.

One of my favorite features of Spotify is being able to connect with my friends on the app. I’m a firm believer that sharing music is a love language, and being able to share playlists and follow my friends is a whole different type of social media. With playlists often based on a user’s most listened to artists, the app has not only created playlists that fit every mood and situation, but has also created the sense of familiarity while also introducing new songs.

Not only do Spotify’s customized playlists like “2020 Wrapped” and their mood playlists provide music for everyone, the ability to create and share playlists with friends and strangers generates such a personal and intimate community of listeners.

I think the best way to emphasize the greatness of the app and the millions of playlists it has provided me and many others with is to share some of my favorite playlists.

“Discover Weekly”

Every Monday, I look forward to Spotify generating my “Discover Weekly” playlist. With a mix of all of my favorite genres, I can count on this playlist to provide me with songs to add to my monthly playlist. I always look forward to accumulating a bunch of songs from this playlist and leaving it on shuffle whenever I’m going about my day.

“Release Radar”

While my “Discover Weekly” is great for a mix of songs from all of my favorite genres, I love my weekly “Release Radar” playlist for finding out about the newest songs from the artists I already listen to. It’s always exciting to hear these new songs and find out what all of these artists are writing about or releasing now.

“soda”

While this is one of Spotify’s playlists, I have found that this fun name for a playlist really captures the bubbly vibe of it all. I love all of the songs on it and they truly fit this saturated and chill aesthetic.

“Lorem”

As Spotify describes this playlist as “some faves and vintage tracks,” this playlist always manages to give me that thrifting and record store vibe. I love all of the artists on it and always love the chill mood it puts me in.

“All Out 80s”

With Spotify’s amazing selection of playlists for all of the decades, I have frequently gone to play this for a girls night or a jam session in the car with my friends back home. I love the fact that so many of the songs are well known and bring me back to barbeques and block parties. In the midst of so much rap and pop music today, it can be refreshing to go back to sing alone to some 80s hits.

If you couldn’t tell from the beginning of this, I think it’s pretty obvious what my favorite app at the moment is, and I don’t see it changing anytime soon. I love all of Spotify’s playlists and many features special to this app, like Spotify Singles from so many popular artists. I swear I’m not sponsored, but I really could go on and on about Spotify and my love for music. If you’re still listening to Apple Music, I suggest you rethink that, or at least reconsider Spotify. There are some fire playlists you’re missing out on.
