A new addition to the Boston Common area, Thinking Cup offers guests a dimly lit setting with a modern feel. Featuring decadent pastries, desserts, and “Stumptown Coffee,” which has been called “Best Coffee in the World” by publications such as The New York Times and Food  & Wine Magazine, Thinking Cup is an ideal place to go to study and treat yourself after all your hard work.

Although Boston Common Coffee Co. has been in business since 2004, it recently opened a new location in Downtown Crossing, allowing the company to brings its familiar and friendly atmosphere to Emerson students. This is a great spot for Paramount residents and offers a great alternative option to studying in the dorm rooms.

Located on Newbury Street, this coffee shop not only offers coffee, food, and a place to study, but is also are a dog-friendly environment. Although most of us don’t have dogs, that doesn’t mean we can’t take advantage of the opportunity to see the cute ones that do live in Boston! This is a great place to try out if you’re tired of the typical coffee shop atmosphere.

Espresso Royale Caffe

A small and quaint spot, this independent coffee shop is a great place to escape to when you need to get work done. With a friendly and energetic staff, the atmosphere will provide you with the energy needed to push through the schoolwork.

Trident Booksellers & Café

338 Newbury St (about a 9-minute train ride on the Green Line to Hynes
Convention Center, or a 23-minute walk)

Trident Booksellers and Café opened in 1984 and is one of Boston’s original independent bookstore cafés and continues to offer guests a selection of new and discounted books, an award-winning magazine selection, and a variety of dining and beverage options. Looking for a place to do work, catch up on some reading, or enjoy breakfast at 11 o’clock at night? With late-night studying in our futures, this is a great place to check out as an alternative to the Iwasaki Library.
