Feel Good ‘00s Movies You May Have Forgotten About

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

From Mean Girls to The Notebook, the early 2000s were a great point in movie history. But apart from the classics, tons of feel good films came out around this time. The movies we loved in middle school may not have been Oscar worthy, but they will always be funny and heartwarming. Check out this list of forgotten films that we all used to obsess over.

1. Accepted (2006)

Now that we’re in college, this hilarious comedy starring Justin Long, Jonah Hill, and Blake Lively will ring even truer than it did the first time we saw it.

2. Charlie Bartlett (2007)

You may have missed this high school dramedy when it initially came out, but with stars such as Kat Dennings and Robert Downey Jr., it’s definitely worth the watch.

3. Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist (2008)

Remember this gem? Kat Dennings and Michael Cera get to know one another over a single night, backed by a glorious indie soundtrack.

4. Aquamarine (2006)

A young Emma Roberts and JoJo give a mermaid Sara Paxton a makeover and help her fall in love. With lines such as “I found two new men to love… Their names are Ben and Jerry!” you know you’re in for a good time.

5. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005)

Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera, and Blake Lively will make you laugh, cry, and experience every emotion in between in this story of four best friends and their first summer apart.

6. Ella Enchanted (2004)

In her best role since The Princess Diaries, Anne Hathaway plays Ella, a young girl under a spell. The dreamy (and British!) Hugh Dancy adds his talents to this charming tale.

7. Stick It (2008)

The beautiful Missy Peregrym plays a badass gymnast in this hilariously quotable comedy. “It’s not called gym-nice-tics.”

8. Ice Princess (2005)

Michelle Trachtenberg and Hayden Panettiere star in this surprisingly powerful Disney flick about much more than figure skating.

9. Life Size (2000)

A 14 year-old Lindsay Lohan, and Tyra Banks as a Barbie doll come-to-life. Need we say more?

10. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003)

This witty, lighthearted romance stars Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. Their chemistry will make you melt.

11. Uptown Girls (2003)

An irresponsible Brittany Murphy and a precocious Dakota Fanning balance each other out with New York City as their backdrop. Netflix just added this to watch instantly, so go catch it before it’s gone!

12. Big Fat Liar (2002)

Frankie Muniz and Amanda Bynes are practically babies in this family comedy, running off to LA to face off against an evil Paul Giamatti.

Next time you’re looking for a cute flick to watch with your girlfriends, try one of these. Pop some popcorn and pop in the DVD – you’ll be reminiscing in no time.
