Every time the seasons change, my skin takes a little while to adjust. Cooler weather consistently makes it drier and I find myself reaching for moisturizers multiple times a day. To top it off, my dorm room’s heat has recently kicked on, making matters even worse.

Some companies, like Lush, make some really great facial masks to hydrate your skin – but they come with a hefty price tag.

Luckily, you can make most of them with cheap ingredients you have lying around. Your skin may even respond better to the DIY version because it will be free of all added perfumes.

Banana Oatmeal Face Mask (Compare to Lush’s Oatifix Face Mask)

½ cup of oats

½ a banana

a little bit of water

1)   Put the oats in a bowl and add enough water to create a paste. Microwave for 20 seconds.

2)   Slice the banana, add it to the oatmeal, and mash it all together

OPTIONAL: If you already have it, add a little bit of coconut oil to the mix.

3) Apply to a dry, clean face and leave for 10 minutes. If you do this quickly enough, the mask will still be warm from the microwave.
