Castle Girl Problems

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

When I signed up for the Kasteel Well program, I thought I knew how the whole program worked: you live in a 13th century Dutch castle with a moat and you leave every weekend to go travel.  While that statement explains a lot, it doesn’t explain everything. There are some smaller regulations of the Castle that took me by surprise after I signed up.

  • Most of the rooms are triples with lofted beds. Reminds me of freshman year.
  • Meals are at set times everyday: breakfast is 8:30-9:30, lunch is 11:30-12:30, and dinner is 6-7.
  • Our orientation is mandatory.
  • There is a strict class attendance policy. You can only miss each class once before and after mid terms, You have to fill out a permission slip to cut class.
  • Ever leave your Internet browser up when you’re not at your computer? You can’t do that here.
  • Stick to shipping emergency with Fed Ex or the USPS. The Castle won’t accept your UPS package.
  • Printing is free.
  • There is a statue of Jesus that marks the end of the Castle “campus”.
