Name: Hayley Moir
Age: 21

Major: BFA Musical Theatre

What are you involved with on campus? Campus tour guide, student theatre, Emerson Stage.
Tell me about Uncommon Women: Uncommon Women is a play by the late Wendy Wasserstein about Mount Holyoke college in 1972, a group of girls and their aspirations, and what happens when they get back together for a reunion six years later. It was an Emerson Stage production directed by Maureen Shea and I auditioned back in October. I played Rita Altabel an eccentric, outrageous aspiring writer and although crass and often inappropriate is a caring friend and a woman with dreams not only for herself but for the future of women in the workplace everywhere.
What’s been the highlight of your Emerson career so far? I’d say winning an EVVY last year for best actress in Next Thing You Know, which was a new musical I did last year.
What’s next for you? Well, looking forward to Emerson Stage’s Merrily We Roll Along which will be playing in the Majestic in April, our Boston BFA Showcase, graduation and my move back to New York to hopefully begin my career.
What’s the greatest piece of advice you’ve ever been given? “Everything happens for a reason, everything happens for the best.”
