5 Reasons We Can’t Wait For Thanksgiving

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

1. Catching Up with Family and Friends

We love our friends at school and see them all the time. So we can’t wait to see our relatives and friends at home. One of the best parts of Thanksgiving is getting to be around some of our favorite people we’ve known for so long. Taking time to catch up with your cousins or your high school BFF is the best.

2. Getting Back to Your Roots

Living in a city is fast-paced and exciting, but taking a break from that lifestyle to enjoy the comforts of home is always rewarding. If you live in the suburbs, getting that fresh air and enjoying the rural scenery is always a welcome change of pace. If you live in another city, it’s fun to see what’s new at your favorite museum or theatre!

3. Real Food

At this point in the semester, you may find yourself tired of your usual order from the on-campus eateries. While it’s important to be thankful for your dining options on campus, there is truly nothing like homemade food. Getting to eat all of your favorites, especially during your Thanksgiving meal, is one of the best parts of this break.

4. Much Needed Relaxation

While we’re almost at the end of the semester, we’re not quite there yet. Some quizzes, projects and presentations are yet to be completed, not to mention finals are right around the corner. With all of this on our minds, Thanksgiving break is a nice chance to relax before the inevitable end of the semester rush.

5. A Reminder to Be Thankful

While you’re at home with your family and friends, eating some delicious food and just enjoying life, it’s easy to feel thankful for all you have. Thanksgiving is such an important holiday because it reminds us of the purely good things in our life. We should all take time to think about what we have and how we can give some of that to others this holiday season.

HCXO, and happy Thanksgiving!
