5 Disney Halloween Costume Ideas (That Aren’t Princesses)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

Love Disney? Hate spending $40+ on costumes from Party City? You’ve come to the right place! Whether it would be for a school spirit week or a college Halloween party, here are 5 spooktacular Disney costume ideas (that aren’t princesses)!

Russell from Up

Adventure is out there, especially if you decide to recreate the outfit of the iconic Wilderness Explorer! For this costume, you will need a yellow baseball cap, yellow shirt, khaki shorts (or pants if you’re trick-or-treating in the chilly October night), an orange scarf for tying around your neck, white socks, and any pair of sneakers. Don’t forget to wear a backpack and to wear your Wilderness Explorer sash (if you kept a sash from doing Boy/Girl Scouts as a kid, bonus points for you)!

Boo from Monsters Inc.

Get ready for all of the “Awwwww”s with this costume! With a pink dress or shirt, purple leggings, white shoes, and your hair in two high pigtails, you will surely capture the hearts of many with this adorable costume! If you’re in a group of three, a Mike and Sully makes it even better! Want to take it a step further? Layer on a purple puffer jacket, tape googly eyes onto the hood, and you have recreated Boo’s monster disguise! Happy scaring!

Edna Mode from The Incredibles

“I never look back darling, it distracts from the now.” Distract everyone at your Halloween party by dressing up as the most famous fashion designer of Disney history. This costume is actually pretty simple—you only need a black dress, a black jacket (just in case you get cold), black leggings, and black shoes. To add a pop of color, add a red or pink statement necklace or scarf. Add a pair of glasses and a black wig (optional, but strongly recommended) as a final touch, and you are ready to stop the show with your look!

Kim Possible from Kim Possible

Switching gears for a moment to acknowledge the brilliance that is Disney Channel. And what better to pay tribute to it on Halloween than to dress up as the red-headed crime fighter herself: Kim Possible. With a black long-sleeved shirt, army green pants, black shoes, and black gloves, you are ready to tackle Halloween! Bonus points if you have a Ron Stoppable and a naked mole rat by your side.

Gaston from Beauty and the Beast

This list would not be complete without adding a villain into the mix. Get ready to steal the hearts of every girl you walk by, but beware, three Bimbettes might fight over you. (I was Gaston for last year’s Halloween and the costume really does change your attitude.) Recreate Gaston’s outfit with a yellow shirt, a red sweater to go over it, black bottoms, and brown boots. Tie your hair into a low ponytail, and voila, you have turned into France’s most arrogant hunter and biggest admirer of the town’s bookworm!
