On any mind-numbing, seemingly endless trip, a podcast is my best friend—especially when I’m traveling solo to or from school. Listening to one of my favorite podcasts is like having a friend sitting next to me on the train, talking to me about the last date she went on. I love podcasts by comedians or funny online personalities, and it’s always a bonus if I can listen to podcasts by women. After all my time scouring the internet, I’m here to bring you my favorite podcasts by women that you need to listen to.

“Why Won’t You Date Me?” by Nicole Byer

Nicole Byer, the comedian who has been the face of shows like Nailed It! and Girl Code, hosts this incredible podcast that questions her own dating history. With a new guest each episode, the podcast holds nothing back in its conversations about trying to navigate race, sexuality, and fame in dating. Nicole Byer is one of the friends every woman needs: one who isn’t afraid to talk unabashedly about sex and relationships.

“approachable.” by Samantha Ravndahl and Alyssa Anderson

Best friends Samantha Ravndahl, a popular beauty YouTuber, and Alyssa Anderson, an actress, join forces to make hard conversations more ~approachable~. Their podcast dives into complex topics such as mental health, following your dreams, and addiction. Listening to these two longtime friends talk makes me feel like I’m part of an intimate conversation, and at the end of the day, isn’t that what podcasts are all about?

“A Piece of Work” by Abbi Jacobson

Broad City queen Abbi Jacobson deep-dives into modern and contemporary art on this 10-episode podcast. Her humor and eclectic guests make conversations about art more accessible and learning actually does feel fun. It’s the podcast that you never knew you needed until you start listening.

Schnitt Talk by Ellie Schnitt

Twitter personality Ellie Schnitt talks all things dating and relationships in her podcast. She explores the modern phenomena of ghosting, dating apps, and boyfriends who are sort of your boyfriend but aren’t really. This podcast is here to help you navigate the uniquely irritating troubles of dating in the twenty-first century.
