Tyler Oberle, ’14

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Elon chapter.

Name: Tyler Oberle
Age: 20
Year: Junior
Hometown: Orlando, FL
Major: Cinema
Relationship Status: Single

What are you involved in on campus?
Overcommitted, of course. I’m in the Cinelon Film Society, Resident Student Association, Community Association at Mill Point, the meditation society, I edit for The Pendulum, I’m an Orientation Leader and Study Abroad Ambassador.

What do you like to do in your free time?
Movies are typically a big part of my free time, making and watching. Other than that, I like to be with friends and play the occasional retro video game.

What’s your favorite…
Thing about Elon: I always rave about how much of a community we are and how awesome all of the people who work here are. You can run into President Lambert or Dr. Jackson at College Coffee and just chat with them! That’s the coolest.

YouTube video: Can I pick a series of videos? I really like Jimmy Tatro’s Make a Video About It series. The guy is hilarious.

Restaurant: Chain? I really like Macaroni Grill. Privately owned? Thailand Cafe back home. I LOVE Thai food.

City in the world: It’s tough to pick one over the others…I really liked Athens, Greece when I went there last Winter Term. It’s amazing to see all that history around you.

Got a celebrity crush?
A few…Elizabeth Olsen tops my list, though. She’s gorgeous. And a man crush on Ryan Gosling. He’s the man.

Describe your ideal date?
A nice dinner at a place with a comfortable atmosphere (so we can talk easier) and a movie back home. That would be great.

Describe your dream girl?
A little sarcastic, friendly, worldly and as passionate about something as I am about movies. Cuddly is also a must. And a pleasant face is always nice.

Any relationship advice?
Cliche alert! Find that person you don’t have to act differently around. If you have to change yourself drastically or they have to, then things probably won’t work out. Find that person you’re always glad to be around and that you want all of your friends to meet too.
