Finally spring is in the air! Luckily, we have all been fortunate enough to have a fairly mild winter compared to previous years, which means spring fashion trends can come earlier!

It’s almost better than a holiday.

Fashion enthusiasts call it the season of femininity and gentle color palettesand with that said, lighter, muted colors seem to be dominating the fashion runways. The low-key vibe creates a ladylike air perfect for those sunny spring afternoons – tea party anyone?

If tea parties aren’t your thing, fear not! Another popular trend this season is washed out denim. But never acid wash. Just say no: We’ve been there, done that – let’s not look back. Lighter, not acid, denim has taken this pastel season from the stereotypical ‘Easter egg’ style to a more trendy and edgy feel. It looks awesome with wild or bold accessories like feather hair extensions or earrings if you’re feeling bold.

Speaking of bold, animal prints and embellished pieces are also taking the spring season by storm. This does not mean a cheetah uni-suit is now acceptable. A little goes a long way and, when worn correctly, can turn any boring neutral outfit to a sassy and fashion forward look. Embellishments on shirts, sweaters and jackets can also do the same and the bigger the better! Crazy necklaces or sparkly designs on tops and sweaters go great with those simple skinny jeans and boots or flats. Jackets can do the same in military style complete with large vintage buttons and lace trimmings or simple leather with a chic cut.

The final trend for the spring happens to be my personal favorite. The peplum cut can be found on tops, jackets, skirts and even dresses and flatter that problem area I know a lot of us ladies tend to have, that elusive and seemingly always growing ‘pooch’ found in the lower stomach region. The peplum cut ruffles out, creating the illusion of a slimmer, toned waist and best of all, is versatile for any occasion, casual or formal.

New season, new trends, new you! Whatever your style may be, these looks can cultivate anyone’s spring fever – but remember, a trend is only as good as the wearer’s who rock it! Happy spring and happy shopping!
