Having to get ourselves out of bed in the morning for class is one of the most difficult things we have to do. And we do it every single day. So to wake ourselves up in the mornings we grab a coffee at Irazu or, if we can, make some in our dorm or apartment. But there are so many foods and drinks that can give us energy in the mornings AND that our bodies will thank us for later.
1. Bananas
Bananas are probably the best fruit you can eat to fuel yourself in the morning. The have Vitamin B6, which fights insomnia, weakness, and irritability. They also contain serotonin, which makes you happy. If you’re feeling particularly hungry put some peanut butter on that banana for an added energy (and protein) boost!

2. Yogurt: Â Â Â Â Â Â
Yogurt is a great choice because there are so many great tasting and low calorie options that will actually fill you up in the morning. For an added boost make yourself a healthy little parfait. Add some granola to it and if you’re absolutely dying for some sweets, you can use my trick: adding a few chocolate chips.
3. Smoothies
All fruits contain natural sugar, and smoothies are full of energy boosters, and they’re good for you! But they will be much healthier if you make them yourself, and if you’re like my roommate and me, who own a Magic Bullet, this can be easy. The best fruits? Bananas and berries of all sorts. Â
4. Oatmeal
Oatmeal is full of complex carbohydrates so it automatically gives us a big energy boost. The best thing about oatmeal is that there are so many different ways to prepare it. Add in some strawberries or apple bits, brown sugar, cinnamon, whatever you want really. But be careful not to add too much sugar!
5.Cereal
If you are really running low on time, cereal is just such an easy option. Choose ones that are whole grain and don’t have lots of sugar in them and you’ll be set for the morning.Â
