No Plans on a Saturday? Here’s what to do.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Elon chapter.

In college, when you finally have a break from class and there’s not much happening on campus, you’re stuck with limited options. Especially here in the Research Triangle, also known as the middle of nowhere North Carolina. You don’t want to spend all day stuck in your room doing homework, that’s what Sundays are for. So here are 5 other things you can do instead of being cooped up in your dorm when there is nothing else to do on your free Saturday.

  1. Go on an adventure!!!

With the surrounding cities of Greensboro, Raleigh and Charlotte there are adventures waiting for you everywhere. The Raleigh/Durham area has come out with some really awesome new restaurants like the new Morgan Street Food Food Hall. They also have concert series, state parks and more to explore! Check out this Instagram page to see what is going on in the area for more fun ideas and updates!  Raleigh/Durham Instagram

  1. The State Fair

The North Carolina State Fair is coming to town from October 11th until the 21st in Raleigh, NC. From games to rides, to crazy food the fair will have it all! All include concerts, a garden show and even more, check it out on their website to find out all the details.  A personal item I am SUPER excited about (this is for all you Krispy Kreme lovers out there) is a burger on two Krispy Kreme donuts. I cannot wait to go into my sugar-induced coma after but look at how good it looks!

  1. Shopping!!!!!!!!

Everyone needs a good shopping trip. I mean it when I say good too and I mean it when I say, everyone. Retail therapy is the best type of therapy and Charlotte is the place to go when your willing to pay the therapists bill. They have malls to small boutiques it is the place to go to get all your shopping needs done. And again. I mean it when I say everyone needs a little shopping in their life.

  1. A trip to the beach

This is for all those water bugs out there and true adventurers at heart. About two hours east of here you’ll hit this big blue thing and it’ll be huge and wet. That my friends would be the Atlantic Ocean. Wrightsville Beach and Wilmington are some of the nicest beaches I have ever been to and one of my favorite places to visit. When they’re not getting hit by a hurricane they’re a great place for a weekend trip or a day trip if you’re feeling up for it. 1. A movie day with your friends!

Not every day has to be filled with adventure though (or driving for that matter). My personal favorite option and the one I do most often is a fun movie day in with friends. We get a bunch of snacks, face masks, turn on the twinkly lights and get oh so cozy under our incredibly soft blankets and go. To. town. Me and my friends are currently loving all the different HBO True Crime series. Highly recommend for that fun day in with your friends.

Just a girl who loves soup, Krispy Kreme and parmesan twists.
