Meet Hannah Fox and Jeana Vose, the beauty guru roommates and founders of Fox and Vose Co! With only a couple weeks into freshman year under their belt, Hannah and Jeana have already created a popular beauty company out of their dorm room. Not only do they provide lash extensions and makeup services, but they also work to inspire the female community of Elon to be their best selves.
Hometowns: Hannah is from Greenwich, Connecticut while Jeana is from the Philadelphia area of Pennsylvania. Hannah and Jeana met online and became roommates when they found out they were basically the same person. Hannah says, “we finish each other’s sentences.” This makes them the perfect pair of business partners.
Majors: Hannah is on a Pre-Law track and is an English major, while Jeana is a Communications major. Interestingly enough, despite the two’s apparent skills in the beauty industry and business management, neither are pursuing a career in beauty at the moment.
As a pair, Hannah takes on the job of beauty: doing lashes and makeup. Jeana is more interested in the graphic design and marketing side of F and V, although she does also help with beauty.
How did you get interested in beauty?: Hannah got interested in the beauty industry at a young age. She says that since she was around the age of 8 she religiously watched makeup gurus on YouTube. She truly took her childhood dream and made it a reality with F and V cosmetics.
Do either of you have a background in cosmetology?: Neither Hannah nor Jeana have a professional background in cosmetology. However, Hannah has always done all her friends’ makeup and has perfected the application of eyelash extensions after years of experience. She also specializes in acne coverage.
The idea behind F and V: F and V came to be after Hannah and Jeana decided to be roommates. They both came into college knowing they needed jobs, as most of us college students do! Instead of getting a boring student job, they decided to do something they love and make it a business.
Regarding their services, F and V is currently doing eyelash extensions for $20.00 and Full Face makeup for $15.00 ($10.00 for separate eye and face).
How did you make F and V successful?: The word about F and V started to spread around campus within the first week of classes. Hannah and Jeana were able to gain publicity fast through word of mouth. The beauty duo told everyone they knew about their company and effectively marketed their Instagram. Hannah also has a background in business management, therefore starting classes and creating a business was manageable.
The future of F and V, what is next?: F and V has a big future! The two plan to extend their business. The goal is to have the name F and V be known throughout campus. They hope to hire ambassadors who share the same beauty skillset as themselves. They also hope to extend their services to spray tans in the near future. Look out for F and V and as they say, “Slide into our DM’s!”
